The game of chess provides our youth with the tools to develop their many talents and these tools: concentration, prioritisation, visualisation and logical thinking skills are what make chess kids smart. In 1982 the Chess Equipment business was established to manufacture and supply chess equipment to schools, clubs and universities. The goal was to produce and efficiently supply high quality, long life chess equipment at the lowest possible cost to all educational institutions countrywide. Chess Equipment were the innovators of the 10cm square chess coaching board that enables chess coaches to easily teach the game to 20 students or more at a time. FIDE approved chess clocks are imported from leading worldwide producers and all carry 2 year warranties. The company, as the leading South African chess equipment manufacturer and supplier, has been the major SA contributor to the Stanley Grundy Chess Foundation, a UK Rotary chess project promoting the game of chess to communities living in disadvantaged areas in the East Rand. Chess Equipment also played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Chesskids Academy of South Africa which teaches chess in-school to young players in under-resourced schools. Thus we remain committed to being the low cost supplier of chess equipment throughout southern Africa.
